Wow there are quite a few questionable writing decisions. Not in terms of content, but in terms of word choice. How can a handkerchief be pickled with tears...? Why not sneak down only in socks? I can tell you from experience, Dot, it's so much quieter. Unless shoes were THAT different back in the day, which I doubt.

Reading for a book club for once because I can do that now, thank you. The first page is IMMEDIATELY very good and introduces you to stakes, setting, Violet's personality, Violet's background, and introduces the main character's opinion on another character.

Definitely a product of its time. I'm reading it from the Barnes n Nobles collector's edition, which groups the first 3 books together, so the page count is a little off. Louis's transformation is like an elopement and despises Lestat himself. I wonder if Lestat turned him because he's lonely. The book is, to my surprise, mostly Louis talking to an interviewer: Mostly descriptive dialogue.

Joined a queer horror group and the book of the month just happened to be this one. I was like, oh!!! How quaint!!! I have this one! I bought it after I read The Spirit Bares Its Teeth!!! What better excuse to read it? Huzzuh

Actually pleasantly surprised. Middle school noir fiction. Even though the pretense is kind of silly, the noir vibes still come across rather well. The book takes itself seriously to its benefit. The writing flows like butter, very nicely. I'm already starting to feel deep emotions for the characters. Damn, man

Two mid-thirties fellas with separate kinds of baggage over the same dead guy. Doggie and HOA neighbor. The sexual tension between these two guys despite how much they're trying to hate each other is off the charts.
