So Winston is “married” and the whole point of marriage in this world is to make a kid. There’s no connection and the idea of sex and intimacy is all gone through the window. Her name was Katherine and she eventually called off the marriage and it’s been about 12 years since he’s seen her. Also they have to get permission to marry by the party… crazy stuff

Seeing the difference between parsons and the other friend was really interesting. One being a genius and one being kinda funny but both being caught by this brainwash. Also Winston being sure that the other friend would get vaporized because he’s too smart, meanwhile people like parsons are exactly what the government wants…great

Winston’s job is so interesting. He’s rewriting the past in order for there to not be trace of traitors or anyone against the government. There’s so much to that to talk about. Why not leave them in history?? As an example. But people that might be known are just erased out of existence. Insanity

It’s interesting how Winston is able to think about certain things even in the world he lives in. It makes me wonder if others have caught the whole system in a lie but there’s no proof or anything so they ignore it. Also the “touching your toes” with the sergeant is totally symbolic right? He didn’t touch his toes until she instructed it. How people don’t think unless they’re told a certain way.

Very interesting concept. Winston lives in a world where you can’t think for yourself and you follow certain rules and certain people not because they’re good but because you’re told to. It’s like brainwashing to another level. In this world, kids even rat out their old parents if there’s a sliver of thought. There’s also a guy who’s hated by the government and who thinks for himself,Winston might find?

I continue to be in awe at how beautiful they can make jude as a person. He’s so intriguing and I want to get to know more of him just as Harold did. He’s definitely the one that stands out to me, such a well written character I can’t wait to find out what really happened to him
