I'm struggling!! I'm really enjoying the bits set in the "present". But they're short and sparse compared to accounts of the past, which I end up skipping huge chunks of as the writing does not work with the tone of what is being said.

I am NOT enjoying this. Sure, it is well written. But it reads like a book that loves to read itself. It is unengaging, and the story and potential enjoyment of the novel seem to have been put to the side in an effort to write the next big masterpiece. It is pretentious and tries too hard. Still waiting to have my mind changed.

Je ne sais pas. Toujours très inégal. L'aspect stream of consciousness qui ne me dérange d'habitude pas m'ennuie. Je crois que c'est parce que la narratrice me saoule.

Inégal. Il y a de très belles choses, et des choses vraiment moyennes, voire mauvaises.

Kelly Bishop is brilliant. I love how unapologetic she is. She is talented and she knows it. It is refreshing.
