The Death of Ivan Illych:
Tolstoy meticulously delves into the theme of death during this story showcasing another crucial piece of the human experience in his work. Starting from the end during this story shows the strangeness and detachment humans feel about death. Simply, we have a hard time handling it. The progressive nature of Ivan’s illness also touches on the various stages of grief.

Finished short story 1/4 included in this set of Tolstoy’s works.

Family Happiness: Found this an extremely enjoyable tale of love and relationships. Find it amazing how much of this story (1859) has relevance in the modern state of relationships. I guess human nature had stayed somewhat constant in this regard. Yet, it may be for the fact these themes are so foundational. I would recommend every couple read this.
