Great. But so, so long…

Once committed to the length of this book I am enjoying the insights into human nature, its fatuousness and its delicate nature. Reminds me of Dickens and this is high praise!!

One thing is clear from reading this book, Jack Kerouak was a smiley, sunny character who saw joy and beauty wherever he went.
Not much of a plot since it is a traveling book. Sometimes it is too much a bullet point account of happenings, but Kerouak is good painting characters.
Definitely awakens my dream of driving across the US.

I'm irritated by it's vulgarity...I was expecting much more. I feel terrible saying this, but it seems as if it was written by a simpleton.

So irritating!!! Predictable and conventional. My 7th grade group is liking it but I really think it is trash.

I AM TOTALLY into it now. The stories are starting to gel and correlate and there is a philosophical quest that is the common thread of the different stories and an undercurrent that keeps tugging at you. Starting to get the endorphins that come from "getting it". Still a long ways to go but I feel I'll finish it!!

Difficult. Long AF. But I will overcome.
