Definitely read through this way faster than I initially planned. I literally bought the book yesterday but something about the way this is written kept me turning the page despite the plot being a bit flat at the moment.

Very interesting conversations and perspectives on social class. I’m hoping to finish before the end of the year 💪😤

Hearing the way Lord Henry talks about women is really something else. I understand not liking women bc you’re forced to wed one, but this dude actually has a genuine hatred for women in any capacity simply bc they exist. Kinda scary tbh but I know this sentiment was probably shared among men throughout history who were stuck in similar situations. Anyways…I gasped out loud after reading Sybil’s demise.

New goal- finish by the end of the week (it’s currently Monday)! It’s kinda crazy how only a month has passed and Dorian straight up wants to get engaged. Also I watched the Talented Mr. Ripley last night and the parallels are really fascinating.

I’m starting to understand a bit more about Lord Henry’s appeal. Seems like a chill guy if he wasn’t actively reshaping every aspect of Dorian’s psyche for the worse

Very tea. I’m really liking how Basil speaks about his work and as a creative I definitely relate to putting “too much of yourself” into your work to the point of not wanting anyone to see. Especially the people in it. Gotta say, Lord Henry is really giving “mean gay” vibes and I’m struggling to find any redeeming qualities in him yet. Hopefully that changes bc he’s a very interesting character.

Tried to read in the hair salon. It’s kinda hard tho.

Right now the story is a bit rambly but it’s ok. Kinda waiting to see Odysseus bc he still hasn’t shown up yet.

Book 1- a lot easier to think than I thought it would be. Not bad so far

This is wild. I genuinely don’t know how it’s going to end yet but these dream sequences are insanely powerful vignettes. Really liking the structure of how things are tying up so far

Really starting to see the parallels between this and Apocalypse Now. Still really tough to get through. Some sections are a bit easier than others but I’m more used to the language than I was yesterday so that’s helping me move faster too. HOPEFULLY I can finish tomorrow.
