Honestly just a lot of reaffirming things in this book in terms of how I believed the us to be acting foreign policy wise.

Pretty insane dismantling of the American involvement in wars in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Honestly just shocking to read through but still not surprising.

Being someone that I look up to tremendously, it’s been extremely insightful getting a glimpse into her background and how she grew up. It’s encouraging and inspiring to see how far she’s come since being a child growing up in the Bronx.

Author is having his full circle moment and explaining what seems to be the apex in his military career. While I can definitely understand why the author has some of the feelings that he does. It’s still interesting for me to hear this perspective.

Have finally reached the point I’ve been waiting for in the book at around page 150 which is nice. The story itself is pretty interesting and it’s cool getting this dudes perspective especially from the time period in which he served. It’s definitely been more insightful and mad props to him for dealing with the racism that is in the military with such grace.

Has definitely started approaching the inspirational and cool part. I’m still kind of waiting to get to the part where he’s “fighting terrorists in americas most secretive unit”. Overall a very interesting book but like I said before, not what I was expecting when I picked it up.

Gotten to the point in the book now where it seems like it’s more of an inspirational story of a dude coming to America and pursuing the “American dream” more than it discussing any sort of work being done in said “unit”. Pretty interesting story but honestly not what I was expecting when picking this book up.

Honestly so far, it’s kind of pretentious and basic but I’m sure it’s going to get more interesting here soon. It also gets annoying with the amount of redacted stuff that’s purposely left in to look more edgy. I feel like it would have made sense just to edit the book and make it more cohesive but I get the effect you’re going for.

Man, the accountability bullet that most American leadership has dodged with their blunders in the 1980s is insane. Not only were they mistakes but they were also complicit in committing these heinous crimes by providing munitions, weapons and other military gear.

Interesting to see the evolution of Palestinian representation of its pseudo-state from 1940-1967. It seems like the sense of nationalism and self determination is more prevalent and there seems to be more cohesion. Unfortunate to see how much surrounding Arab states meddle with the development of Palestinian resistance as a means to control what happens next in that specific region.

Really sad to see how dirty Palestine gets done during the post war period and how even surrounding Arab nations don’t really seem have an interest/ability to support them. Extremely frustrating

Definitely intriguing, probably need to take my time reading this one through with a lot of names of important actors being thrown around. It moves very quickly and the sequence of events that occurs, allowing for the establishment of an ethnic-state is described fairly well so far.

The book honestly keeps the pace as it keeps on going. They discuss shortcomings in the US military outside of the rampant recruitment of “gang members and neo-nazis” and delve into mental/physical health crisis that are also plaguing the service.
The discussion of cannon fodder used in the military is also extremely interesting to see.

Frustrating to see how badly the US government mismanages how our veterans are taken care of when they return from service. It’s also insane to see how standards eroded so much during “the war in terror” so much that it’s now exasperated a mental health crisis in America with a rising white supremacy movement.

This book has taken me through such an in depth history of each person that is seemingly involved with the disappearance of Jean McConville while explaining their role in the troubles in such and eloquent way that I wish I could read it again for the first time. The history behind everything and the deep secrecy that kept so much of this hidden for years is something that blows my mind with each page I turn.
