Starting the book with a detailed acknowledgment and examination of the fact that waiting is super hard and why it’s super hard is a great way to begin. It makes the reader (me) feel heard and understood when the inner monologue of “this situation sucks” hits. Boy, does it hits often.

This book is really the epitome of "decades where nothing happens, weeks where decades happen". I guess it's fitting it takes place in Russia given that quote is from Lenin
