The historical background to this story is really fascinating and I’m glad I learned about it, but in general the story itself wasn’t as amazing as I’d expected. Still a solid book though it was a sad story.

4.5, I wasn’t expecting that ending, but it really made me think. For such a short book it really said a lot, I think that’s a talent of hers. S.E Hinton is becoming one of my all time favorite authors

Oh my goodness it’s like mockingjay when katniss is a lifeless shell narrator all over again. ☹️ This was so depressing to read but not the cry depressing the I’m dead inside depressing. I thought I’d give this 3 stars yesterday but it earned a 5

🥲 I thought this would be generic it punched me in the gut

Whoa this was incredibly interesting, the concept of DC existing but these super humans also existing. I thought it’d only be about teens so the married life stuff was kinda meh to me but I’m sure if I revisited this in my 20s or 30s I would appreciate and relate to it more. Overall, cool concept and the ending was beautiful.
