okay this shit rules. perfect understated and genuine unsettling horror.
the kind of shit that you feel maybe once a year in real life, where a really unlikely coincidence happens to you and you just feel like everything becomes palpably both less real and more surreal at the same time. that feeling but with a serious sinister undertone.

Establishing the idea of and making a series of arguments for “Anarcho-Communism” was a high bar for me to buy into taking any of this seriously, and while it falls a bit short in some places, in general Kropotkin makes a compelling case for the idea. Like with most politico-economic texts, there are some statements that are said as fact that I find dubious, but not insane. Great for margin jotters like me lmao.

Just finished chapter 11. This shit went from creepy to straight up upsetting, but in a good, body-horror type way if that’s your thing.

Man, this is a really good sci-fi book that covers a *lot* of ground across a long timespan, and is a great part two of the Three Body trilogy. I have no idea what is going to happen, but things took a dark turn at a pretty thematically apt time in relation to real life events, so that was fun lmao

Unsettling yet entertaining so far. Really evokes the discomfort, to put it mildly, of obsession.

Jesus, this is hard to fuckin’ read. I get that it’s intentional, showing how pretentious one of the protagonists is even in their inner monologue, but damn man, I either have to google every 5th word or just glaze over half a paragraph and hope to get the gist via context lol

The pacing of this book is really satisfying so far. I mean the amount of time being covered is kinda staggering and there are moments I wish were fleshed out a little more, but with the scope of the story, it makes sense.
