The prologue expertly prepares you for the journey you are about to experience and succinctly strips away any bias you may have brought to the table. By smashing any racist notions that might be hanging around your subconscious, the author is leading the way for a whirlwind tour of human history.

The middle section detailing Nada’s time in Iraq is rather slow and uneventful. It meanders from one story of an inconsequential interrogation to another. Sprinkled in are some “exciting” stories of raids that feel embellished. Maybe this is her way of expressing how dull and misguided her time in Iraq really was based on how she vaguely described it.

Gets a bit slow in the middle. Way too much personal detail about the author and not enough about the mission. Maybe it’s not actually that interesting.

Good so far. Medium pace with a lot of background bordering on filler.
