Dragons & Decorum 5 stars. Omg pride and prejudice retelling with dragons and Elizabeth is a captain in the dragon army. Really great. Language felt regency appropriate. Damn can this shit be topped ever?

Seven Years from Home 5 stars. Interesting sci fi, good world building, some character development. I liked it. I think it’s a very effective short story

Commonplaces 1 star. Wife feels better after cheating? Why would I like that? I’m not target audience, as I’m not a huge Sherlock fan. This is for hard core fans of the classic stories with working knowledge of what happens when. Does nothing for me

Spinning silver short story 4 stars. It had the exact same start as the novel, from what I can recall. Ending is kind of abrupt about face for starek. I think one of the most interesting things about this is thinking about how Novik‘s mind works. I wonder how much of the world and characters she had in her head as she wrote the short version

Buried deep 4 stars. Greek myth is always a check. Ariadne is quite likable, and she tells off her asshole dad. Works for me

Vici was a temeraire offshoot

Vici 2 stars. Didn’t do anything for me, didn’t like any of the characters.

After hours 4 stars. Really like the scholomance world. Anisha Dadia is so great as narrator, as in the trilogy. She has big Hermione energy

Araminta, or, The Wreck of the Amphidrake was probably 3.5 stars for me. Pirates, regency era; check, check. Reminded me a bit of Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall.

Once is too many times to hear “my sire” and I’ve heard it several times already. Also “slick folds” has made an appearance 🤮

Omg this narrator read another book I dnf’d this year! Amy Landon. The other book was The Merciful Crow.

Don’t like the narrator, bad accent work. But also seems like the writing for Irish speech patterns is quite bad.

Can’t see how this won’t be 5 stars. Hilarious and interesting. Highly recommend the audiobook, read by the author

I’m listening to the audiobook and I’m having a lot of trouble continuously paying attention. I don’t know if that’s because of life or this book. 🤷‍♂️
