Cathy Coley is starting The One You Get: Portrait of a Family Organism
This memoir is a wild ride through the early 70s-the 80s and one child’s experience growing up in an “experimental” and mentally ill family. The author examines how this influenced his brain chemistry, and shines a light on how your early experiences in family inform who you are. It’s highly relatable while remaining a singular story.

Cathy Coley is reading Yes Please
I just finished Yes Please. Loved it. Feels like Amy Poehler is a new best friend and we just sat up all night getting to know each other. Of course, it was only me getting to know her, but what she says in this book is relatable and fun. It's filled with the kind of good advice you want from a friend when you're in need of advice, when you didn't know you needed it.

I couldn't finish it, though it may be a fun story. I didn't have much empathy for the main character, which may have been by design, but it made me not care to get involved in her story, as imaginative as it started out. Maybe another time. She might appeal more to target YA audience. Only read about 20%, taking off my list for the time being.

Cathy Coley is reading The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)
Great modern adventure storytelling with classic archetypal nods. I'm not saying anything most don't know already. It's a fun read with sweet characters.

It's a lively story, and maybe the main character is more empathetic later, but I honestly couldn't stick with it to finish the book past the beginning chapters at this time. Some minor inconsistencies, though very imaginative.
