I love how these books genuinely explore the fringe possibilities of the tech and world building it has presented. This one came up with a situation I hadn’t even considered.

Oh boy oh boy… this one hits hard in 2025

A robotic nursery rhyme or parable. I’m loving it!

Really liking it so far! As Zhao promised, it’s really difference in pacing and feel from book 1, but I’m liking this introspective, politics-centric story.

I’m loving this so far. The queer lens is much appreciated, and Emrys is able to keep the story engaging even when it moves slowly. The world building is fascinating and I’m excited to continue reading!

I feel like the editors/publishers really phoned it in on this one. So much potential but needed another round of edits and fleshing out.

I really like this book but it uses the r-word more than once (why????) and has some unchecked fatphobia. So far, the r-word has not been challenged and it served no purpose. This book was published in 2017. Come on. Just why ruin a well-written book with unnecessary ableism?

Also, there’s a HoH character in the book & some of the rep feels questionable. I’m not an expert, but it feels off to me.

Super cool world

I haven’t read this book in over a decade, so I wanted to revisit it. It’s a lot like I remember — lots of fun hard science-fiction moments and absolutely atrociously-written women. I wish R. Daneel had more “screen time”/on-page time because Elijah is pretty annoying, but I’m enjoying the book overall.

Finished book 1. Fun read with interesting world building. I can definitely see how this came out of the Hunger Games era.

This is definitely my least favorite of the series so far, but it does a good job of doing what it’s meant to — it’s a slow, cozy book with lots of explaining the mundanity of life in space. It’s interesting but not what I’m super into at the moment.

!!!! I’m so glad I found out about this series because I have been missing out! The storytelling is incredible (unbelievable world building + breakneck story pacing) & the art is just as unreal. I can see where Moore & Gaiman got their inspiration. Lee should get way more credit than she does.

Really fun so far!
