I fear I might be stupid bc it took me far too long into the book to realize the main character's names are plays on Lenin and Marx

I look upon this book with dread. Every time I pick it up it's a battle and then I read like five pages, get used to the ridiculous prose and before you know it I'm crying over hurín

now i understand why been and luthien and the children of hurin are published as separate volumes because those stories were absolutely incredible, but fighting through the first 150 pages of the worlds densest exposition to get there??? not the vibe...

"Auld Lang Syne" is my favorite thing John green has written, and it's an essay I return to at the start of each new year. This book is gonna get five stars for this piece alone

Green has made it very clear that with all the resources we have today (including THE CURE), TB exists now solely as a disease of injustice. At this point in the book, its seeming like the argument he is going to make is that TB has always been a disease of injustice, which I am very interested to read.

wait wait wait

the effortlessly charming boy who can wrap people around his fingers with his words falls in love with the songbird from the seam, only for the object of his affection to be exaggerating her feelings for him as a tool to survive the hunger games? To have his world crash down when they get back to 12 ?

oh my god Snow sees himself in Peeta
