I was cramping the day before and so I just binge read this in bed… a lot of plot development happened. I wish Julia would just like- appreciate that she has a good husband. I get that he’s old but “he’s a good man Savannah” 🥺

Poor Hadassah is going thru it between Claudius and Marcus.

Pg. 174 and 175 was one of my fav scenes!

Chapter 8 was sooo good!!! Hadassah is settling into her role as slave to Julia, the daughter of the Valerian family.

Hadassah has her first interaction with Marcus and God is WORKINNNNGGG in their interaction.

Just fabulous chapter!

This book began brutally and finally it seems like the characters are settling into the roles in which they will be in for most of the book: as slaves.

Hadassah is going to the coliseum but in what way? I don’t know yet so I really want to figure that out!

I am having to read this form my Essay writing class (Spring 2026 Semester)… and I am counting it as part of my book because I am, in fact reading the full thing so yea.

It is a pretty chill read though. It’s good to brush up on some english principles.

So slay such an easy read I loved it!!!!

It’s interesting! I enjoy getting insight into people’s lives. I appreciate the fact that is not trying to play up her childhood as something that it’s not. Despite being raised under a communist regime, she says that she had a great childhood! It’s surprising but i’m sure there were some places that felt the USSR more strongly and other places that felt it less.

Jaw is in the floor and my head is in my hands I can believe this is round two of this 😭
