The main character went back to Catherine’s house, noting how it started suffering after nobody took care of it for a long time. He told Nelly to burry her next to Catherine. She was afraid to be around him. She called a doctor, he refused to let anyone into his room. Later he was dead and they couldn’t close his opened eyes. Hareton was the only one to mourn him and stayed all night with him. They put him to grave as he wanted, but villagers say he walks around at nights. She said Catherine and Hareton will leave to her house after marrying

Nelly got scared at Heathcliff’s looks, he refused to eat again. For the next few days he kept going outside each night and Nelly was anxious. She thought he acts like a vampire of like he communicates with Catherine’s ghost. He said he didn’t do anything unjust and doesn’t repent anything. Nelly suggested he should speak with a clergy and see how far his life was from good according to the Bible.

He told Nelly he keeps reminding himself to breathe and he doesn’t know how much longer to do it, he wasn’t afraid of death. He later told Catherine to be gone when he saw her and looked cheerful. After a meal he went out again. When he came back he told everyone to get out of the house saying he was in hell and now can almost see his heaven. Nelly told the main character Heathclifd died. Before the death, he told Nelly to come to Catherine and keep her away from high sight. She was happy at first but then annoyed she couldn’t go out and being lonely when Nelly had to leave. Hareton often visited her in the kitchen. At first they didn’t speak, later commented at his stupidity, saying he’s like a dog, eating sleeping and doing nothing.

The main character ate, thought Catherine would have a better life if he married her and took to London. He visited again the crazy family, he saw Nelly and spoke with her, after staring at Catherine teaching Hareton reading and kissing him after he did it well.
It was very confusing, as just few paragraphs earlier they yelled at each other and burned the books.

Hareton was embarrassed, took her books and threw them to her. She didn’t want to have it anymore. He spoke back at her and hit her face. Heathcliff came inside, saying he hates Edgar inside of Catherine. The main character greeted, said he’s leaving to London. Heathcliff asked about money he should get from the rent, then changed subject to eat dinner. Heathcliff told Catherine to eat with Joseph away from them

I didn’t know Hareton asked to help her, but does it matter? He still didn’t, maybe too afraid of Heathcliff’s anger or maybe he lied about talking to him about it. Either way he didn’t help her when she needed him. Nelly said she thought of finding a cottage for herself and Catherine but knew Heathcliff wouldn’t let them leave.
The main character who was listening to Nelly’s story said he’d go to

The female servant said only that Catherine locked herself in Linton’s room the day she arrived, in the morning asked Heathcliff for medical health for Linton as he will die without it. He replied he didn’t care and she can nurse him or let him die alone. She asked female servant for help, and the woman replied that she has her job and Catherine’s job is to nurse Linton. She saw her few times crying and felt

Nelly came anyway, but wasn’t allowed to see Catherine. Men wouldn’t say anything and the only female servant was told by Heathcliff to not help Catherine, to which she acted childish, and by doing so made woman dislike her and she also wouldn’t tell Nelly about Catherine.
I guess the lesson is to make friends in a foreign and scary place to get a little help eventually.

Nelly said he’s evil for disturbing the dead, to which he replied Catherine disturbed him for 18 years until previous night, when he saw her

He then said Catherine is going to earn her keep and he’s going to punish her and make her obedient. He also said Linton has an evil spirit and wishes to punish Catherine for the pain his father gave him for helping her escape. She said she realizes he has bad nature, but she has better nature allowing her to forgive and loves him because he loves her… wtf she was arrogant and above all before, this is too much!

Catherine wanted to stay at her house and Nelly stayed as the housekeeper. Heathcliff came inside house without saying a word, he said she will come and from now on take care of his son, as he’s glad to make the boy afraid of his shadow and doesn’t care about him anymore. Nelly tried to persuade him to let the three of them live in their current house. He said he’s going to rent the place.

If Catherine told her truth Edgar could try to wait for attorney to change will and ask for divorce, but nooo better to lie let him die in peace and let Heathcliff have everything he wanted. Catherine explained that she escaped partially to Linton. Still there’s no way to forgive him for using her and wishing her pain and suffering.

Why would Nelly keep making everything worse? Everything could’ve been stopped years if not decades ago if she didn’t meddle into everyone’s business. Clean the house and do your job woman instead of lying and scheming!

One servant went to fetch a lawyer to change the will, said he was busy and would come later. Servants sent for Catherine said she was too ill to travel home. Nelly scolded them for listening to lies. She didn’t do anything though besides cleaning.Catherine came home a few hours later, Nelly said she’ll first go to Edgar to announce her arrival and forbid Catherine to complain about her husband or treatment there
