I really enjoyed this book. The theology got a bit iffy at certain points, and there was some loosening of the seal of the confessional at times, but overall the stories were interesting and engaging and the characters kept my attention and my sympathy. Definitely worth the read.

Wonderful story, excellent writing style, engaging characters. Points off for the unnecessary partial nudity.

Wow. I wasn’t sure what sort of stories the priests would be telling, but this first one was amazing!! Officially loving this book now!

A light read that’s good for winding down before bed. The author is fond of making up words by adding “-ness” onto other words, rather than using a thesaurus (such as “aloneness” instead of using “solitude” or “isolation” or “loneliness”). If you aren’t picky about how the English language is used, nor sensitive to anachronisms of speech, thought, or behavior in a period novel, then give this one a try!

A light read - good for winding down before bed. Not deep or riveting. The modern language and modes of thought are a bit jarring against the Victorian(?) background. But the main characters are interesting enough to keep me engaged.
