the way Greek mythology canon is mainly constructed by male writers, I can’t help but think of all the ways Helen is used as a device in the narrative; she reminds me of the way Stockholm syndrome isn’t even a real thing — Helen *as a person* and as a women is lost to us because she was written by men for men like ugh 😔😔

reading for a class, really love the informative introductions so far, especially because my only prior experience with Homer’s work is Emily Wilson’s translation of The Odyssey (which I will be reading again for the same class, yippee!!; major bummer I won’t be reading her Iliad translation for this class though 😔 that’ll be on my own time)

cannot describe how absolutely thrilling it is to do a Raven Boys reread through this graphic novel!!!

I wish every book had a graphic novel adaptation because it makes a reread so much more profound and interesting when all I am able to consume is the dialogue between the characters without the prose (and with an artist’s interpretation of events at that!!!)
