I wanted to read something by Arthur Machen, as I understand he was one of Stephen King's influences.
It took a while to get my head into late 19th century writing and language - a few words had me checking the dictionary! - but once I'd adjusted, it was an enjoyable read, and very intricately constructed.
Tales within tales within tales all woven together into a larger whole.
