I have some theories… potential spoilers? Could be completely wrong too.

What if this is just a story about colonisation and the Queen coming to the world and ‘saving’ the world from darkness was just trapping the people beneath the world? And for as long as she was alive she had some sort of power to keep them there, but now that she died they can finally retaliate for the suffering they’d been through?
