kinda dragging but only cuz i’ve watched the show and know what happends next xd

the romance is losing me a bit

so far has very much good omens vibes

finally got back to reading this and im still as disconnected to the characters as ever

over a month into this book at around 70%. i’m actually so tired of this book but i NEED to finish it to move on

this book is a struggle to get through because i feel ZERO connection to any if the main cast. story-wise, its alright. but why should i keep reading a story about characters i dont care about??

tamest epic fantasy ive ever read. in other words- boring.

im bored. im so bored. i thought this was epic fantasy??

a lot of lists in this book so far. lists of food, weapons, etc

have no clue where the story is going i guess the book is more character-centered which is a nice change of pace to the recent books ive read

current read: The Shadow of The Gods by John Gwynne

no clue what is going on this story is such a mess the plot keeps jumping from one part to the next like context doesn’t even matter the tone has switched too many times that i can’t even tell which parts i should take seriously or not

i’m at the part that i think is supposed to be scary. this is my first horror book. reading something that should be scary kinda takes the scare factor away

so far i’m not feeing any depth to the writing. everything is told to you very straightforward without any subtlety. evander is uncomfortable. evander does not like to be touched. evander hates laurie. etc

repeatedly saying a word for more emphasis again and again is starting to get annoying and im only 10% into the book

the merge between both past and present im pissing

i realize now that you shouldnt foxus on the meaning of words you dont understand or the technicalities of the world in this book. as long as you understand whichever character you’re reading about is feeling then its fine

it’s not that im not enjoying the story, its just that the writing is so hard to get through. maybe im just not well-read enough for this type of writing, but i find myself having to look up every other word in this book and rereading each passage so that i’ve got some semblance of understanding of just what really is going on in the story. ive never read a story this full of metaphors it’s making my brain ache

so far almost identical to the show with the exclusion of a bit of filler scenes and some characters

it isn’t necessarily dragging but damn this book is long

actual current read: the second death of locke by v.l bovalino

the shamanism part of the book gets confusing at times and altan makes me feel conflicted
