I’m thinking of abandoning this book; I don’t know how much longer I can read the matter-of-fact, graphic retelling of one’s abuse.

Some memoirs are edited to high hell, — others are tasteless, ghostwritten cash grabs from famous non-writers — but it only takes a page or two to see that THIS story will be served to us in Bourdain’s uniquely piquant voice, like meat morsels in a boiling broth. There are moments I agree with him and others I do not, but at this point, his consistent, unapologetic, authentic voice is what I respect the most.

devouring this book, only started reading it this morning. shari holds your hand through her arduous journey, and she recounts it with such honesty that it’s hard to let go and step away, even for an hour.
