feeling a bit “fake deep”
read 3 stories so far, enjoyed the first, the second is where i really got the ‘fake deep’ feel, and the third was veritable slop, and given that it was the title story i’m not particularly optimistic about the rest of them.

tldr: easy reading idea juice! not hard to read but not hard to think about either. sort of the teddy-bear-face-Ham of ‘subverise’ pseudo-feminism.

this book is just so insanely good, you can literally feel the love Virginia Woolf has for Vita Sackville-West as you’re reading it. It’s palpable, you can taste it

not only is it crumbling in my hands it stinks of mothballs and mould. But Woolf writes entirely in poetic prose & I’m fucking with that heavy so will be continuing my attempt

I think it’s a real shit sign as a society that like, this book is known for its insane and relentless violence, and (while i have a feeling it’s going to get worse in the second half) so far it’s no more violent than the average netflix TV drama.

Cormac McCarthy’s writing style is like holding ur breath for as long as you can in the swimming pool when you’re a kid, trying to come up for air realising your about to pass out & being held underwater for a further twenty seconds by ur evil older brother.

We agreed to read this book with CU in our last impact meeting as sort of a summer book club, and i've been meaning to read it for ages. So far so good, very eye-opening. As expected Lewis's writing is phenonmenal
