Thomas Clayson is the PERFECT antagonist for this story. The more I read about him the more I hate him. He epitomizes imperialism and colonialism in a way that’s so blatant and repulsive it’s good! I mean you just can’t help it and I love a character that you can really hate. When you give us the poster child for white supremacy and top it with blatant misogyny… *chefs kiss* I can’t help but indulge.

Sooo I fully started crying when they talk about the students and the old man… I was not expecting that but hey

I’ve finished the first chapter and I’m totally in love! I needed a light read after my last book and while the whimsical vibe keeps it light these cats are imparting generational wisdom. It’s interesting how the author chose western astrology as opposed to a more eastern school of thought. So far 10/10 just for the talking cats alone.

Excuse me?! I had to put my book down bc what do you mean the men wish they had a light skin woman to beat because they’re agreeable after a beating and everyone can see that you beat her!!! WHAT IN THE MYSOGINOIR IS GOING ON?!

*side eye* I know what he means when he talks about children but it gets a lil weird at times. But I guess that’s exactly what he’s talking about lol. Foucault is cooking though. I’m definitely seeing the picture he’s painting and I’m excited to see where he takes this .

I feel bad but I kinda hate how Janie doesn’t speak. Obviously that’s coming from a person who can stop talking but I feel like being the mayors wife in a brand new town would be the chance to reach out to people and build community. It’s obvious that she’s very young so I take that into consideration but ugh

I kept saying the book was cute… imagine my surprise when they started killing ppl. I know revolution isn’t won without a lil bloodshed but dayuuum. This is definitely not a Charolette’s web kind of ting.

I didn’t realize how Chopt this book is. It’s super cute and although it is a critique of communism (I think and get the vibe) the thought of animals running a farm and teaching themselves to read and write is so cute. Also having the pigs be the corrupt leaders is fitting not only because pigs are very smart but bc… you know greedy pigs. lol.
