“It’s alright,” he breathed.
“I won’t ever let them have you.”
“Why?” I forced out, reaching up to brush the tears from my cheeks.
“You don’t care about me. All you’ve ever done is hurt me, so why would you promise me something like that?”

The places where his hands had been tingled with the memory of his touch like they missed it.

Tears slid down my cheeks but I ignored them too. Because I didn’t care about Darius Acrux. And he certainly didn’t mean enough to me to make me cry.

All of this pretending not to be together drove me insane. But I wondered if it was the thrill of this game we were playing that had me so hooked on him or if it was something more than that. All I knew for sure was when I was with him, it felt like the stars were singing our names.

A deep growl resounded through him as he pinned me in his gaze, the cage of his arms tightening around me like he was afraid I might run. But I was done running from him.

Darius was watching me like my answer to this question was the only thing that mattered to him in all the world.

Darius observed the movement like he was starving for it, like anything and everything I did now was fascinating to him.

“There are countless people who would say I’m not allowed to want you,” Darius breathed. “But you make me want to burn the whole world down so that I can claim you for my own.”
“Then we should burn it down,”

“I was watching you.”
“Why?”
“Because that’s what I do, I watch you and hunger for you and ache for you. It torments me like I torment you.”
“Then why do it? Why not just look away?”
“I’d find it easier to carve my eyes out than I would to stop them landing on you.”

Diego caught my arm and led me away, not even noticing Orion there. Because to him it meant nothing. It wasn’t the sky falling down, but to me it felt like every star in the heavens were descending and crashing into the earth around me.
