After 75 years, I thought we’d have known every horrific detail of the occupation by now. But just a few pages in, I already learned something new. A detail about "The Cemetery of Numbers", where Palestinian people are buried by the IOF without names, just numbers assigned to them, all to prevent closure to grieving families and to gloat about the amount of hoarded dead. Heartbreaking

I’m loving this book!! The descriptions of Egypt are so vivid. I feel like I’m truly in the story with the protagonist.

Chapter 2 details the connection between Israel’s
2000 and 2006 invasions of Lebanon with their attacks on Gaza in 2008. Israel deliberately targeted civilian populations as deterrence. Dr Finkelstein also highlights Israel’s consistent antagonization of Hamas (who arose as a legitimate negotiator for a two-state solution in the public international eye in 2006) to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state.

Reading anything about Palestine is never easy. In the words of the great Dr. Norman Finkelstein, "It makes your heart scream."
