These characters are being introduced very succinctly, making them seemingly unimportant. Then they're mentioned again six chapters later and it's like oh.. maybe I should've paid more attention to that carriage driver or the moon in the sky.

Also, a writer a voice actor does not make. Authors please- hire the voice actors. Three acts and a dozen main characters yet every story is in the exact same tone. Help.

I'm disgusted that a 15 year old girl was married off to a grown man. I'm pushing on for now, but that tainted everything about Sisi's story. She's quite literally a pregnant, isolated 16 year old being groomed.

It's taking me so long to finish this bc the chapters about Zevander's past are SO difficult to read. There's supposed to be a "touch of horror" in this novel but that touch feels more like a bxtch slap. I'm reeling after every chapter I have to read about his past.

I decided to read this book bc I have familial ties to Bolivar, Tennessee & recognized the author's surname. Most Bolivar folks are either McTizic's or Sain's (or both). My bloodline is Sain like the author so I was intrigued. I love a southern Gothic story.
