Horrible. The worst book I’ve read in ages. I need a break. This is intolerably boring and redundant.

It’s alright sometimes, but starting to get formulaic in how dark it gets. I just finished chapter 19. He’s desperate to ride a bike. He waits a long time to ride one, and he finally does, and it’s the saddest day of his life. Why is it the saddest day? Because after riding his bike which got a paragraph, he gets a root canal, and pays all his attention there.

If Debbie Downer was a book, this is it.

So crushingly boring. Thoroughly disembodied character cannot express her needs or desires and loses herself in the heavy irony of deconstruction of language. Nothing admirable or likable about a character just going with the flow and unable to express herself. I’m too bored of the character to even want to offer a symptomatic reading of her.

So far it’s alright. Not very literary. Fairly straightforward with little artifice. Very clear and minimal third person diary entries
