People can start off a book already in a relationship? What is this sorcery? Lovers to lovers?

Ugh. I get this is what happens in YA books but... you're in a room with people who seem firmly on your side. So OF COURSE you decide to withhold what could be vital information because we can't solve the mystery too quickly into the story. Ugh.

Ugh. I'm crying.

I'm more affected by two characters holding hands under a blanket in this book than I am pages and pages of sex in other books

A good twist and the book has finally hit its stride plot wise. Though the suffering in the book has been hard to get through

It is SO cute these two girls just being friends and oblivious about their feelings. Inject this directly into my veins thanks.

I was worried on the first page but I put it down for the night and it was the right choice. The protagonist is likeable, the setup with her brother and family situation is sad bit realistic.

I'm okay. Or not okay. Or both. It was everything I would've hoped for. My eyes are still wet. I just want to live in this feeling for awhile

Does a journey need a destination to be worthwhile? How you answer this question will probably say s lot about how you feel about this book

Murakami minus the problematic stuff that makes me not want to recommend him to people. She's not that level yet but her descriptions and metaphorical descriptions are nothing short of beautiful. I feel like she's unearthing universal truths as she writes.

Feels hard to remember what I enjoyed about the series so far. Everything is so miserable right now it seems hard for it to ever be fixed

A few things bother me about the book - the lame nicknames, the premise a man and a woman tennis player would be competing equally in a practice setting where they're both trying (not the same as this one specific man and one specific woman, the idea in general is never broached). Otherwise a very enjoyable character study and period piece, a mostly played straight sports story i am looking forward to finishing

I think I'm still reading this series out of inertia more than anything. But I'm going into this book with an open mind (mostly because its been so long since I read most of the series I don't remember the details sharply).

After reading the first chapter this is right in my wheelhouse. I'm mystified/concerned by the rating and how its matching up my anticipation for the rest of the book.
