i cannot wait to collect the rest of the volumes ♡ i love the immediate adoption of coco by qifrey. magical girl mangas are my absolute favourite and i love how flowy and organic the line work is in this one— very art nouveau, almost mucha-esque spreads that really feed into that childlike wonder of what happens next in the story

the first book of my two person book club ! tlotr series is a childhood favourite and i’m so excited to share the wonder of it with the person i love the most in my lifetime. i love how i can see parts of his personality within bilbo baggins—something i’ll reveal to him through my annotations and our weekly discussions as we chip away at the book chapter by chapter every week ♡♡♡

So far, the book contains some interesting analogies of a painful mother-daughter relationship; I especially enjoyed the way the city of Dhaka has been personified. The prologue has intrigued me to keep reading and I hope that these different metaphors that have been set up are to be explored and expanded on as the book progresses.
