I love everything about this. Read the book in its entirety for the first time and surprisingly it worked very well. The story between Eric and Jen, their findings and the story of V.M. straka’s book itself just fascinated me. Can’t wait to read it again :)

I feel incredibly sorry for Lenore already. The first few pages of her silently accepting the pains that being a woman brings with just hit the spot (maybe because I myself am on my period whilst reading this). All that in only 16 pages…

I love the way Ben Aaronovitch writes every single time. It’s descriptive in a fun and seemingly very „English“ way. Im excited for what caused the death of the sheep and the poor merlad

Trying to get back into reading as much as I used to

Why did Harvey have to die? Like no. And then Yifei too??? Wtf. Now I’m bawling my eyes out. I don’t even know why exactly but I grew to love these characters so so much and now they’re dead. It feels like losing friends.

(I know that’s not how this works but I hope that Cora finds new friends and is living well now)

Other than that: great book, although it didn’t catch me from the start: a good read!

I do not know what to think of the hungry ghost (Delilah) eating Yifei‘s roommates. I accepted and really enjoyed the part of the ghosts being real, but at the same time being as fleeting as shadows and thus somewhat surreal. I mean it was a great scene it just seems so unnecessary to the whole plot? I don’t know. Still this book has captured me and I cannot wait to finish it :)

I really like Harvey. He seems to be a genuinely nice person. I hope Yifei, Cora and him grow closer. They could all use some close friends I think. And Cora especially could use some love. Poor girl. Anyways I’m hooked! Can’t wait to read more. But for today it’s too late and I’m too tired.

Chapter 13 had me on edge. That was horrifying honestly… but I understand now why people like this book so much. Once you get why Cora is the way she is it gets so much better. Her way of thinking and living makes this book so much realer it’s amazing. So I am very excited for what’s coming next :)

I wasn’t quite sure what to think of this in the beginning but I am starting to understand the MC more and I’m beginning to like her too. It’s such an interesting story and especially as someone who has not experienced much hate and no racism at all (although some people do ask me if I really am from my country it was never out of rudeness or hate)
So yeah! Cannot wait to see what happens next :)

So far the focus on Covid is a bit much to me, as nothing else is really happening otherwise. But the writing style is really nice

Had to stop reading bc I really dislike the protagonist

I love how you can get lost in Richard’s lies and his way way of seeing the others. How he is seeing this new world he finds himself in.
It’s melancholic and beautiful. A challenging yet lovely read so far.
