The first half or so of this was incredibly gripping, but the court case stuff was a bit of a drag (I think especially bc Rule herself comments time and again that it was a very mediocre and anti-climactic trial, which makes it difficult to turn into spectacle but it was still given the attention as if it was)

"He put down his book, showing that he was fully engaged with the conversation." babes either show or tell but don't do both this is weird

a bit of a slog, like every time you get into it the chapter finishes and you shift to a different timeline and have to get in it again

Really loving it, flying through it, clicking with the writing, and unable to continue bc of my post-headache fatigue where my head just refuses to cooperate lmfao

Stellar so far!!

"His words cut me short. I'm almost stunned to hear them, like he had opened his mouth and started to speak French." babes you're in Baton Rouge

This author really doesn't seem to know how xanax works lmao (or that it's just the brand name of alprazolam)

Really fun thus far! Love the dreamlike character of her childhood stories and memories.

This is genuinely so funny - wym the familiars are on strike

Was really struggling to figure out which book to pick up but I think this is the one

They're... injecting narcan into somebody's veins?? Even though last page they acknowledged it's a nasal spray?????

Slowly but surely making my way through this -- made entirely possible by my daily commute, with special thanks to the w e r k z a a m h e d e n further extending my journey

decided to use intimidating books as my metro reads, since it went really well for getting through Kafka on the Shore. Now this one, which is weirdly similar in the directionless character + unnecessary sexual stuff, but I'm curious to see where it goes!

tried to get into it before and it wasn't the right time, but now I'm having a great time with it reading it on the metro every day listening to the twin peaks soundtrack

There's only one way this can end that won't make me hate the book at this point

doing a lil research

Really good and at the same time a little hard to get through because it is quite monotonous, I suppose. I really want to try and keep my reading flowing this year so putting this down for the evening and getting another book started!

So good I'm literally giddy while reading. Like honestly so many essays and books and talks are just so similar to each other and Baudrillard's originality is just riveting! Not only that but he also comments on the cultural homogeneity that made the global north so susceptible to an event like 9/11 and i feel like that's such an important point and also i feel like it might be why trump has such a broad appeal toorn

This wasn't advertised as a moral dilemma kind of book and that's also really not my thing lmaoo

This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2025 and it absolutely slaps.

not only have i forgotten what was going on in this book; I've completely forgotten everything that went on in the previous books except for lighthouse slug. Think I'll have to reread them first

rereading bc I wanted to continue in the series but remember very little and realised it's been 8 years since I read number 1 and 6 or so since number 2

His writing is SO fun.

Not enjoying the book that much, but I DID find the perfect soundtrack to it (Albéniz's Suite Espanola Asturias)

It's okay, but not really sucking me in so far. Also, the writing is really mid.
