this book tells instead of shows. it reads as a droning account of the narrator’s every day, with random droplets of introspection that leave you parched. the only hook the book keeps in you is the allusion to the animals dying at some point.
i was expecting at the very least a novel as thought provoking as I Who have Never Known Men, which this is regrettably not.
