It is one thing to hear about things that have happened–things that cannot be undone, but it is an other to realize that the horrors persist. There is no "I have gone through enough and I am now safe from harm;" there is only "whatever comes next cannot be expected and this universe does not owe the damaged anything."

interesting how the narrator/ main character of certain chapters just aren't named and we're left to guess based on information given in the previous pages
