I may not like Shakespeare but the man sure has a sense of humer. Check out this dialogue:


“[Horatio]:
My lord, I came to see your father's funeral.

[Hamlet]:
I pray thee, do not mock me, fellow-student;
I think it was to see my mother's wedding.”

"To lose one's life is no great matter; when the time comes I'll have the courage to lose mine. But what's intolerable is to see one's life being drained of meaning, to be told there's no reason for existing. A man can't live without some reason for living."

"It seems as if you're burying me or saying farewell forever; who knows, perhaps we really are seeing each other for the last time."

“Greatly he failed, but he had greatly dared.”

“You talk nonsense, but if it's your own, I'll kiss you for it. To talk one's own nonsense is almost better than spouting someone else's truth. In the first case, you're a human being; but in the second, you're only a parrot!”

Life's little day ended.”

It's interesting how Alcyone says "I will not TRY to live," instead of saying "I will not live", like her whole life was a trial and the trying part was not for her, but for him. The "trying" was for him, and without him, the attempt is meaningless.
