Hmm. Eilis seems to have little agency, so it's a little frustrating to see her life go by (20 years!) while she remains unsatisfied. And *spoiler if you haven't read the first novel, Brookyn* having a secret affair at the start of her marriage makes her whole marriage based upon dishonesty (to herself and to her spouse). Interested to see if she ends up coming clean before she hurts others.

I picked this up in Switzerland at a cozy 4-story bookstore and have been waiting to read it. This is the perfect timing with our LGBTQIA theme for my work book club’s genre of the month. I'd heard Ocean Vuong in talk show interview snippets, and he seemed very genuine and poetic. Looking forward to this.

Halfway through... Dark and eerie subject. It's been interesting hearing the different voices of the women narrators. The way they think and what they know are all shown through the different pacing and style of writing. Neat to notice the switch-up between chapters.
