So far I’m realizing a lot, not exactly learning a lot because this is the way I think already. But the things it’s says has given me many epiphanies and valuable realizations.

It’s quite interesting. It’s seems like he’s missing a lot of his memories. Maybe from the constant brainwashing overloading his brain so much that most of his memories have become shadows or too blurry to make out. I did felt disgusted by the way he talked about harming the girl because she wore a chastity belt. The stuff about the children is so f’d up! They speak of hangings like it’s a Disney Movie.

I like that the book discusses the way historical atrocities are taught in school. How the education system brags about the “benefits” and downplays the atrocities. Like writing about Columbus & saying “Yeah he did commit genocide causing Native women to drown their own babies out of desperation, but hey, man can this man sail a ship!” Even as a kid I hated Columbus. I wanted to learn more about the Natives.

“They would make fine servants….With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.” ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! This pissed me off immediately! Words cannot express the disgust and rage I’d felt reading those lines! Only one page in.

I just hate this for Montage. I can only imagine how much pain everyone must be going through in that world. To sum up the experience, they are Anti-intellectuals. Mildred is so brainwashed she called them on her husband. Batey knew Montage held a fire hose in his hand but continued pushing him emotionally. Batey wanted to die. He is a coward! I wonder what the other fire fighters thought as it all went down.

The fact that the Tv is created to input the watcher name when addressing the audience is quite creepy. The show named Family & Mildred called it “My family” Her desperation for connection. glad Monty asked her “Does your family love you?” She kept books hidden but switches her perspective about the books too many times. Has the show caused emotional instability? Is she fighting herself?

The way the girl described their education & how her friends were killed by other kids. 💔 Hate that she died! & Hearing the way Batey described why he supported the burning of the books disgusted me. “If they can’t think, they will be happier.” More like they won’t know they’re unhappy. Sickening & horrifying ideals to forced on people! He made intellectualism sound worst than racism or something!

Its clear the girl was waiting for him. She’s either very stupid & too trusting or very brave & assertive. After meeting the girl he admitted he had not read any of them. He isn’t much of a thinker clearly. It’s clear he felt sure of himself & his duties without giving it much thought. What about burning books makes him believe he’s happy? Why does the realization that he’s not causes his body such pain?

Penn Bradly voice is so lovely and perfect for audiobooks.
I was a bit confused but realized he was a firefighter. It was a bit odd. I asked myself why is a firefighter burning books. He smiled at burning the books. He felt proud of himself. The question is, does he see them as a threat to society or is he just “following orders”? It makes me think of right wingers banning books to “protect children.”

When it said some Jews voted the way the nazis wanted them to, It blew my mind. It reminds me of the Latino for Trump. To think that there are people who would trust that any kind of loyalty to the people that actively and loudly hate them would benefit them in anyway. Only for them to end like those they stood against.

Im really starting to see just how “beyond the surface” the most successful companies are. Hope I can utilize this for my future business. Whatever it would be.

That religion is a myth made by humans to give up control in hopes of something greater than us to control our destiny. Do we doubt our power so much we need something greater to look to for life. What is so wrong with believing that we just evolved this way? Why do we want to believe something bigger and greater have created us in our current form with some greater purpose? Why do we need a greater purpose?

I’m loving this book. It’s making me realize that humanity is not what I’ve been told it is. That we are not “picked” by something higher than ourselves. We exist if nature and by nature but the outcome of our evolution has made us do unnatural things. And that we one day will be extinct and are responsible for the extinction of more animals than we know.
