The hate read continues lol still bad, unrelatable writing with no heart and even less comedy.

I think this will be a hate read. The second essay was about yelling at a guy on the train to turn his music down, but then he felt bad for the guy. Then later when a woman told him to do the same later, he thought she was a c***. The humor, if it can so be called, is so outdated.

Still really good, I stayed up late two nights in a row because this book was so engaging.

Trying one essay per day. Sedaris continues to be out of touch and unlikable - maybe he always was - in the first essay about his husband's hip surgery and the great lengths he went to not to help him, including flying in someone else to help and snobby jokes about people who eat *stuffing* on the holidays rather than pan seared scallops. It has become funny, in a way, that he's turned into such a lame person.

A third of the way through and this is already such a fun read. I hope it holds up!

DNF Maybe it was the cover, who knows, but I expected supernatural horror not the standard person-on-person horror (violence, coercion, rape). The third story is a queer rape/serial killer story and it was just so incredibly stressful to read that I no longer want to continue with this collection. Also, the first clue someone is awful isn't their teeth collection it's when the break into their house and rape you FYI.

Absolutely the worst introduction to a collection I've ever read, but the first story was good.

Time to DNF this book is just so bad.

I am in the mood for CAMP and I hope this delivers.
