The Food Explorer is really really hard to read because the author really really seems to not LIKE his country. What I thought would be a fun traipse through the history, the science, the building of a shining example of a country is, instead, filled with sniping. I'm not sure I can hold my nose long enough to stick with it. Life is too short for bad books.

Once again, I have to put this cold book down. It just doesn't speak well to me. Back it goes on the shelf. There are better fitting books calling. I'm on to Pivot. Another author I've had the pleasure to meet. I remember his warmth and excitement and that comes through from the first page.

Life is too short to force oneself to keep reading bad books. The rumors are true - this one is poorly written. It just made me sad and annoyed to read what became snippets of commentary on food and not a story.
