So empathetically ghastly this book is. Then just ghastly. I haven’t put this one down. I’m scared I’m certainly shook. You think you have it figured out then you don’t. Who’s the smart one? Who really has the upper hand(foot)?! This is all misery.

Loss of connection and company can truly drive anyone mad. Is this the case with Annie? Has Annie been alone for so long she relies on fictional characters for company and has begun to see them as real people? Real enough to do things that are rash and dangerous? How will Paul escape?
