Loved it. Reading alongside a heavy topic book, this book, "A Second Helping", is a welcomed change and the perfect antidote.

I read Amistad decades ago, and reading this is bringing up those painful memories of reading that novel. I don't care how many times you read an account of how black Africans came to be in lands away from their origins, it sears your psyche like hot grease popped on your skin.

25 pages in and I can already tell that I'm going to enjoy this novel, although painful in content. What I enjoy is the writing and rhythmic prose.

Very relevant read.

Pages 74-78 had me howling...LOL!
Love the dialog and interaction between characters.

Going to DNF this. It didn't keep my interest. In all honesty, it was competing with another book I was reading simultaneously.
