Bummed that Ryle didn't make a connection from Matt. 21:38 to Gen. 37:18-20... tenants say "come let us kill him" when the master's son in the parable goes to the field parallels Joseph's brothers when he goes out to them in the field. Foreshadowing Christ's death at the hands of the 'tenants' of Jerusalem (chief priests, Pharisees, etc.) who seek to kill the Son when he comes to them

Great chapter 7 on the Puritans' & Reformers' perspectives on the natural world/providence as means for meditation and spiritual formation

Ch. 5 on The Gospel of Christ is a must-read, even if you don't read the rest of the book.

21:23-32

"If God were the object of our love, we should share in an infinite happiness, without any mixture or possibility of diminution; we should rejoice to behold the glory of God...It should delight us beyond all expression to consider that the beloved of our souls is infinitely happy in Himself, and that all His enemies cannot shake or unsettle His throne: "that our God is in the heavens, and doth whatever He pleaseth.""
