Intriguing... I'm definitely not picking up on where they are and what is going on in this world outside of the Compound. For someone who watches these types of shows, it's very entertaining but the unknowns about the world (what year is it? Is this our reality? Why is there a rotating show playing?) On top of being a cross between Love Island and Survivor.... I could see this a real show the way reality is going.

This quote rings so true to me "living with a terminal disease is like walking on a tightrope over an insanely scary abyss. But that living without disease is also like walking on a tightrope over an insanely scary abyss, only with some fog or cloud cover obscuring the depths a bit more - sometimes the wind blowing it off a little, sometimes a nice dense cover "

"In treatment, the wrongness I feel in my life is a wrongness reflected in my body... And spending my days at the cancer center: it's something I'm part of. I make sense there somehow. A lot more sense than I make at the gym or the elementary school or the grocery store or work meetings - or all the other places I've sat outside of for too long in my car taking deep breaths as I attempt to return to civilian life"

Life doesn't stop. The day to day keeps going and you have to go through it. If you stop to get emotional, you will break. I'm in the same place... Marriage, mother to young kid(s), working.... And so many moments in this book so far have resonated. I wish I could stop time and process it without feeling like I'm watching You go through the motions thinking it'll be done, you'll be fine... Then find out it came back

Wow, just wow. There are moments described that are so on spot. I have yet to find a group to share my experience with and to go through my emotions about my cancer and yet, this book is cathartic in the same way. I need this so much right now.

This line was exactly what I would do when I wanted my husband to feel the baby kicking... "The two of them could share the occasional moment of joy when she would suddenly light up and wave for Dusty to lay hands on her wide, taut belly. She would never speak at these times, as if the baby were a fish that might be frightened away. She would wave, eyes wide, mouth closed. Dusty never grew tired of this..."

Lara writes "I worry about people judging me because I am constantly in judgement of myself" - this felt so true to myself and something I never took the time to think about... But realizing this will likely bring some self awareness to my judgemental thoughts. I've always worried quite a bit about how others view me.

This book is unbelievably entertaining. I'm getting Hitchhiker's Guide vibes. Audio narration is fantastic, if you like Audio books. I can't wait to finish this just so I can reread it.

So far I am flying through this. It's so engaging and you want to know what happens next with April. This book really reminds you how each ones pain and hardship are relative to their situation. One can feel like it's the end of the world, but it could always be worse. This book really grounds you and can be considered inspirational. If April can survive through her hardships, you can get through your troubles too.

So far this is such an engaging book. I can't seem to put it down. I really needed a book like this right now, seems like I haven't been in the best reading mood since I had my little one. Finally, I feel that magic again.

I live for the moments Gregoravich (sp? I'm audiobooking this one) makes appearances. Probably one of my favorite AI characters of all time.

I wanted to pop in here and give Donna Tartt some credit here. There is a part where the main character is being discharged from a hospital stay and it's casual mentioned his embarrassment from being carted out via wheelchair (hospital requirement). I am aware of that feeling and I'm sure anyone who's been in that position has. I find Tartt throws in details like that and even as simple as it is... It makes the world

This is some good old fashioned horror, something I've been missing. Brings together a bit of the murder mystery with a butt load of fantasy horror. I'm a sucker for dream centered horror (think Nightmare on Elm Street) and urban legends (think Slender Man)... This has elements of both. Let's hope it keeps the pages turning (so far so good).

This one is lacking all the political and philosophical details of the previous World War Z... Without it... I'm finding it entertaining but not much else and even the fun of it gets lost in all the survival details without much substance. Where I would have categorized his first novel as one with more substance than a typical sci-fi book... This one is about as entertaining as a beachy read. Pretty disappointed

Woah, another entertaining book with lots of relevancy right now. Max Brooks has done it again and taken an emergency situation (not a virus or Zombies this time but a volcano eruption mixed with Bigfoot) to give us political points, shown weakness in our ever growing dependency of technology and how we handle a crisis. I love the way he does this!

This is definitely timely, first chapter and we already have a police officer pulling over the main character for no other reason but the color of his skin. I can see why this book was picked to become a TV show on HBO. I'm just hoping the Lovecraft side of things won't cheapen it.

Really liking this but mostly for the plot... I don't really feel much for the characters when things happen to them. Definitely entertaining though!!!

Hilarious. Reminds me of Monty Python, particularly the Black Knight that fights until he has no limbs. Don Quixote is such a crazy oaf and I love every bit of it.
