From a gift box...not quite my usual fare but I can't not read a book!

TY to Goodreads, the publisher, etc for the free copy. Any review/comments are my own. I will note in advance that I didn't know this was a "Christian romance" (their term, not mine)...not really my usual fare (either term) but I'll give it a whirl...

I don't review mid-read (the char limit hurts!), but pondering + savoring

Some find Edith sympathetic. Others pare that down to pathetic. She gives her self to men who aren't worthy. And told by a male narrator. Is Edith defined by lack? Gaze? Negative space? I don't intend to be critical. Can it not be?

Does she make a choice? If only the war let Lyman leave, could she go even a half mile? Does she break out?

This was part of a subscription book club box (an "advent" calendar w short stories and coordinating gifts incl four books). Pretty wouldn't read on my own but since I have it....

A fun little novel w a cute premise. Quick read...nothing overly deep re the characters but an interesting thought experiment esp in "alternative facts" land (z never existed! They'll say it did but they are just trying to cover up a conspiracy against me.)

Starting...reading to use for a romance square on a reading challenge.

Reading in bits. Decided it'll count as having two or more authors for a challenge that I joined after starting (but GR let me review my 2020 reads thus far).

On pg 215 of 535. Good and important but parts, esp in America, drag.

Just starting a Harper advance. If I stop, it is all about me and my mind (from the summaries, more Lily than Rose...to a disordered degree before they even made BED a distinct entry). It'll be good for me or it won't, but it will almost speak well of it if I stop bc it burns too bright.

Just embarking so to speak but already captured by intelligent Zofie, passionate Stephan, and dear Truus

felt a need to go more mainstream to counter my othe r book (which is good but nonfiction and dense with science)
