Noam is 85% done with Algorithms to Live By: The Computer Science of Human Decisions
I am this spring, God-willing, completing my undergrad degree in computer science this coming May. I cannot think of a single piece of work that is as all-encompassing, enjoyable to read, and informative as this. Many, many times I have read chapters and seen concepts and ideas that are core to the CS field. I will leave final thoughts to when I finish the book but - wow.

Part 1 - amazing
I'm mid-part 2 and have dropped to a crawl with my progression. Concepts feel vague now for the purposes of being vague. While part 1 drove to action and bestowed resolve and purpose into its reader, part 2 feels like a list of complaints.
I will forge ahead, hopefully soon :)

Aight yeah I’m reading this and I’ve read a lot and still barely dented it. Good book, might need a break from fantasy though.

Read a bit more, it’s good! Still chugging along :)

Actually took a huge break and thought I wouldn’t be able to keep reading it, but my friend left me his copy!

I have two pages left then I gotta write my review but - Damn. So much symbolism - mirrored experiences, metaphors, and of course the abstract yet definitive wisdom of the poems of Rumi.

First 10th of the book went by surprisingly quick. Didn’t have a ton of time to read but I’m enjoying it so far.

Very good. A few editorial mistakes here and there but the substance is very good. Dr. Jay has a certain style of writing that I’m not the biggest fan of, but that’s a nitpick, and I don’t judge books on the writer’s style anyways.
The lessons from this book are incredible and internalizing this book is much more of my goal than just “reading it.”
Looking forward to part 3 which I’m almost up to.

When I borrowed this book from my friend he tried to show me which chapters to skip, stating they’re boring and that I could reasonably skip past them. This is not the case. Every chapter has cameos and includes info from previous chapters in a way that is very deliberate. While you don’t HAVE to read them, you gain from the experience in choosing to.
So far I’ve enjoyed every chapter.

Bro I got made fun of on the plane for reading this because “what kind of nerd reads a documentary.”

It was my flight attendant and she was funny ash.

5/5 so far, even for the bands I don’t know (which tbh makes their failures a little more stinging - there may be a REASON I don’t know who they are…

Big experience enhancer is listening to music of the bands you’re currently reading on. Helps you discover new music or relisten to classics

Cute so far! Though the dialogue feels like they’re all 30 year olds in a RomCom which isn’t my favorite flavor of YA romance dialogue. Staying optimistic and excited to read more :)

Very interesting. I’m taking it slow and I’ve noticed that the passages fall into categories. I haven’t fleshed them out entirely yet but one seems to be clearly that Aurelius reminds himself frequently of his (and his context’s) insignificance. Another is general reminders to love, support, and forgive thy neighbor.
