I love metaphors and descriptions that literally mean nothing. Literally nothing. Let’s just say words, everyone. And I will bash my head into drywall.

I like the concept of this book, but the way the author is describing things peeves me off sometimes. Just empty metaphors.

“…the word “slaughterhouse” striking out in silence. Huge and alone, the word resisted, didn’t disappear.” Oh shut upppp I bet they used this book to train AI-speech. The trend of three similar descriptions being used in a row when she could have picked one, too…

She should've left me alone, Goddammit! He did not feel sorry for Mary; she was not real to him, not a human being; he had not known her long or well enough for that. I’m coming to the close of part one of this book, after he commits murder, and currently I would rate it at one or two stars. I say this because I have already almost made this a DNF book, but I gave it another chance after a week or two. The murder, in my opinion, was not accidental. He had so many options besides smothering the girl with a pillow. It feels racist to continue reading, but I’ll push through.
