I remember my dad reading this book around when it came out and complaining that the section where he goes down the wrong path is too long. We get the point, don’t need hundreds of pages on being a hs stoner. I remember thinking my dad was being a boring Reaganite. Now I feel the exact sam way, but maybe I’m becoming a boring Reaganite.

Crying tears of joy when Theo gets to go to Maine. Genuinely heart warming. Followed by the most stomach turning plot development. Just looking for some pleasant night time reading before my Corps exam

The Secret History was my favorite book in 9th grade, need to re-read. I have been circling around the Gold Finch for a while. I’m already very drawn in through the first section. Always in awe of Tartt’s ability to write from the perspective of characters completely different from herself without it coming across as contrived.

The author really goes in on isolationist vs interventionist US politics leading up to WWII, which has become more interesting since I started reading given current events.
