Lots of grandstanding, not a lot of memoir. This book has been disappointing so far.

Glennon is deeply self centered and desperately clinging to anything she can to justify her selfish behavior. I am kind of surprised this book is as popular as it is.

I really, really hope this book gets better. I need a little more plot and deeper characters. So far everything feels very surface level and Hallmark-esque.

These books require a lot of concentration as they have a lot of fantasy world terminology, politics and a large rolodex of characters. I typically listen to audiobooks while doing other things, but this series might require uninterrupted reading - not sure I have the time for that!

I'm kind of shocked that this won best Memoir of the year. The fist 4 chapters make me hungry, but they aren't really grabbing me and making me want to read more.

These characters all started out fine, but they have all taken a turn for the worse. Lata is the only family member who isn't involved in a morally grey relationship, but it seems like she didn't model good communication or a healthy marriage to her children. I hope things turn around for everyone in the final third!

This book is a lot harder for me to get in to than the previous one in the series. The "depressed/numb main character trope" is making it difficult to feel any connection to Nash. Hoping things start improving and I can get through more than 5-10 pages a day in the next 20% of this novel.

9 chapters deep and we are getting the origin of the title.

I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on this novel. The writing style is beautiful and the story has been fascinating so far. I know it's a character driven book, but I do feel there has been a lot of plot development as we get to know Aomame and Tengo.

The fact that so many people have taken advantage of Molly in the first half of this book is really breaking my heart. Hoping she has a strong redemption arch.

Wait wait wait...you mean to tell me this woman laid naked in bed and pretended to be asleep while her husband's mistress snuck into her room? And they had the nerve to sleep together with her fake sleeping right next to them?! All of these people are horrible. This scene ruined the whole book and Hadley for me.

Miles must be extremely physically attractive, because his personality is awful. Why do so many romance writers try to make untreated trauma sexy? This would be a much better love story if Miles sought out therapy after whatever happened with Rachel.

So many of these stories have been retold in various books throughout the years. It's great reading the origins of a lot of the morals and stories I grew up with. However, a lot of the language and very descriptive gilded age clothing is completely lost of my 5 year old daughter, so I spend a lot of time translating the story. Ultimately, I think I am enjoying it much more than my daughter is.

I hated Elle and Jonas for the first 3rd of this book, so it took me a while to get into it. But, the second third really shaped their relationship and now I empathize with them. Elle's parents are the true villains here.

So....I read a book in my early teenage years about a young girl who lost a bunch of weight but still struggled with confidence. Couldn't remember the name, but thought this one might be it because I loved Sarah Dessen. It's definitely not what I was searching for and the plot isn't very captivating.

So, I knew this book came highly recommended and I knew it was about a young lady who suddenly became internet famous....I did not know it was a Sci-Fi novel. I'm not a big Sci-Fi reader and am losing interest in the story and elements and aliens are being tossed around. Disappointed at this point.

Such a fun, easy read with so many characters and romances to root for. Fairly predictable plot and villains. I'm hopeful that this one has a few unexpected twists, but it's still a nice cheesy romance/drama.

25% in and nothing thriller-esque about this novel, just a story of the gentrification of Brooklyn.

Then, a few people start feeling the ground shake at night and Sydney has an chilling Uber right that seems to be the work of either a demon or a schizophrenic break. The author is suggesting both that she may have undiagnosed mental health issues and other people are noticing the odd things she's experiencing.

I was apprehensive because this theme has been done many times before. However, I'm really enjoying the pace and reality of this version. life is and will be full of imperfections. It's made me think realistically about my own regrets and how happy I truly am with my imperfect life.

I was not expecting this to be a YA novel, but the unnecessary teen romance bits are starting to intrude. This is a quick read and pretty intriguing despite the YA tropes.
