I think Becky might actually be a sociopath…but somehow still quite likable.

I don’t know how I feel about this book so far. The main character feels underdeveloped and I feel like the novel is trying too hard to be edgy, in a way that’s a bit annoying. It also annoys me that we learned earlier that Lillian’s mother got pregnant with her at 21, and yet later the mother says she’s 64 to Lillian’s 29. Minor inconsistency but feels sloppy.

Read the first 30 pages in a park after taking an edible and so far I’m really vibing with it. I hope that’s not just because I’m high, but I do think being high is enhancing the experience because the way this book is written is the way my mind works when I’m high.

Rebecca is now staying in the house of Sir Pitt Crowley, and his son Mr. Pitt Crawley. I’m sure this won’t be confusing at all!

I first read Madame Bovary in my late teens. At the time, I found Emma unlikeable and annoying, and didn’t think much of Charles. Reading it now, my heart aches for them both, and the tragedy and sadness of the story is really hitting me.

The sexual frankness of this book is kind of amazing

I admit I bought this because of the Discourse and the Drama, but so far I’m really enjoying it as a book in itself. Lindy West is a really striking and thoughtful writer (occasional 2010 blog-isms aside).

Lydgate is kind of like the Timothée Chalamet of Middlemarch

Making my way through, slowly but surely. Wilkerson’s rich prose and astounding wealth of detail seems to call for it.

Agnes Grey is such a hater, it’s kind of unintentionally hilarious. In the space of 3 pages she describes her charges as “barbarously ignorant, indocile, careless, and irrational,” “boisterous, unruly, unprincipled, untaught, unreachable,” and “pettish, cowardly, capricious, selfish” respectively. Like damn girl, tell us how you really feel!
